Die folgenden Ereignisse trugen sich am 20.02. in der Wrestlinggeschichte zu:
Ereignisse
1928: Joe Stecher (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=3605) hatte sich entschlossen, die Wrestlingschuhe an den Nagel zu hängen. Für den 20. Februar 1928 wurde deshalb ein finales Match gegen "Strangler" Ed Lewis (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=1817) in St. Louis angesetzt. Stecher wollte einen letzten Zahltag haben und dazu für den Strangler den Job machen. Billy Sandow und Tony Stecher (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=3606) kündigten den Kampf als einen "Contest" und das "letzte große Shootmatch" an. Das Publikum hatte mittlerweile Wind davon bekommen, dass die Matchausgänge abgesprochen waren, da es verschiedene Berichte gegeben hatte und verbitterte Ex-Wrestler und Promoter geplaudert hatten. Der Gedanke, dass Lewis und Stecher füreinander jobben würden, war jedoch unvorstellbar. Durch diesen Hype wurde das Match das am meisten erwartete seit dem zwischen Stecher und Earl Caddock (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=1259) im Jahre 1920. Vielleicht sogar seit Frank Gotch (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=1891) vs. George Hackenschmidt (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=1288) im Jahre 1911. Vor 7.000 Leuten im St. Louis Coliseum (die die für diese recht geringe Zuschauerzahl enorme Summe von 65.000 Dollar Einnahmen brachten) besiegte Lewis Stecher mit 2:1 Falls. Damit war Lewis neuer Träger des World Titles (Illinois und New York akzeptierten den Titel aufgrund verschiedener politischer Gründe nicht). Lewis holte den ersten Fall nach 2:16 Stunden mit seinem berühmten Headlock und einem Armbar. Es dauerte nur eine Minute, bis Stecher mit seiner patentierten Body Scissors ausgleichen konnte. Bis zum dritten Fall dauerte es nun noch 13 Minuten, diesmal mit einem Double Wrist Lock. Stecher hatte eigentlich sein Bein auf dem untersten Seil bei diesem Fall, somit war es im Grunde ein Screwjob-Finish. Nach etwa zwei Kampfstunden hatten Stecher und Lewis ab und an miteinander diskutiert, somit war deutlich zu sehen, dass das Match auch geworkt war. Kurz nach dem Match trat Stecher wie geplant vom Wrestling zurück.

1928: Joe Stecher (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=3605) hatte sich entschlossen, die Wrestlingschuhe an den Nagel zu hängen. Für den 20. Februar 1928 wurde deshalb ein finales Match gegen "Strangler" Ed Lewis (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=1817) in St. Louis angesetzt. Stecher wollte einen letzten Zahltag haben und dazu für den Strangler den Job machen. Billy Sandow und Tony Stecher (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=3606) kündigten den Kampf als einen "Contest" und das "letzte große Shootmatch" an. Das Publikum hatte mittlerweile Wind davon bekommen, dass die Matchausgänge abgesprochen waren, da es verschiedene Berichte gegeben hatte und verbitterte Ex-Wrestler und Promoter geplaudert hatten. Der Gedanke, dass Lewis und Stecher füreinander jobben würden, war jedoch unvorstellbar. Durch diesen Hype wurde das Match das am meisten erwartete seit dem zwischen Stecher und Earl Caddock (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=1259) im Jahre 1920. Vielleicht sogar seit Frank Gotch (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=1891) vs. George Hackenschmidt (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=1288) im Jahre 1911. Vor 7.000 Leuten im St. Louis Coliseum (die die für diese recht geringe Zuschauerzahl enorme Summe von 65.000 Dollar Einnahmen brachten) besiegte Lewis Stecher mit 2:1 Falls. Damit war Lewis neuer Träger des World Titles (Illinois und New York akzeptierten den Titel aufgrund verschiedener politischer Gründe nicht). Lewis holte den ersten Fall nach 2:16 Stunden mit seinem berühmten Headlock und einem Armbar. Es dauerte nur eine Minute, bis Stecher mit seiner patentierten Body Scissors ausgleichen konnte. Bis zum dritten Fall dauerte es nun noch 13 Minuten, diesmal mit einem Double Wrist Lock. Stecher hatte eigentlich sein Bein auf dem untersten Seil bei diesem Fall, somit war es im Grunde ein Screwjob-Finish. Nach etwa zwei Kampfstunden hatten Stecher und Lewis ab und an miteinander diskutiert, somit war deutlich zu sehen, dass das Match auch geworkt war. Kurz nach dem Match trat Stecher wie geplant vom Wrestling zurück.
