Leider passte Bob Backlund (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=480) nicht in Vince McMahon (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=131)s neue Pläne eines landesweiten Rock-´n-Roll-Wrestling-Produkts. Ende 1983 verpflichtete Vince stattdessen den jungen Hulk Hogan (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=39), der gerade etwas Berühmtheit durch seinen Auftritt in Rocky III erlangt hatte. Leider passte Backlund nicht ins Bild und irgendwie solle Hogan der neue Champion werden. Vince bat Backlund also darum, zum Heel zu turnen und sich dann in einem Titelmatch für Hogan hinzulegen. Backlund weigerte sich, weil es ihm als Babyface einfach viel zu gut gefiel. Also kreierte Vince ein Szenario, wie es in Montreal auch nicht viel anders war. Am 26. Der Sheik war eher ein Midcarder und kein Fan erwartete auch nur im Traum einen Titelwechsel. Als der Sheik aber Backlund in den Camel Clutch nahm und ihn zur Aufgabe zwingen wollte, warf Backlunds Mann in der Ecke, Arnold Skaaland (http://www.genickbruch.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=2500), plötzlich das Handtuch in den Ring und signalisierte damit, dass Backlund aufgebe. Dem Sheik wurde der Titel durch Submission zugesprochen. Backlund war vorher von diesem Matchausgang nicht in Kenntnis gesetzt worden und hatte eigentlich erwartet, das Match zu gewinnen und weiterhin der Champion zu sein. Nach diesem Match blieb Skaaland noch für Jahre Angestellter im Front Office der WWF. Backlund verließ die WWF dagegen sofort nach dem Match und kehrte erst ein Jahrzehnt später nochmal zurück (und konnte sogar nochmal den WWF Heavyweight Title für einen Tag erringen). Und der Sheik?
