Nach WCW Thunder hatte sich THQ von der Turner-Promotion getrennt und sich mit World Wrestling Entertainment einen neuen, vermeintlich stärkeren Partner gesucht. Die ersten fünf Spiele der gemeinsamen Zusammenarbeit wurden in den Jahren von 2000 bis 2003 unter dem SmackDown-Banner veröffentlicht. Von 2004 an firmierte die Serie dann unter der Marke SmackDown vs. RAW und seit 2012 schließlich einfach unter dem Ligennamen World Wrestling Entertainment. |
